SBA HUBZONE CERTIFIED COMPANY

 

KTL Communications LLC, announced today their certification of the Small Business Administration (SBA) HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) designation. The HUBZone certification became effective on May 3rd 2016.

 

A HUBZone certified business is a small business under SBA standards, who must be principally located within a HUBZone and have at least 35% of its employees residing in a HUBZone. According to the SBA website, the program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones ” HUBZones”, and the federal government has a goal of awarding 3% of all dollars for federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified small businesses

SBA 8(a) CERTIFIED

KTL Communications is SBA 8(a) certified business. The 8(a) Business Development Program was created by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to open the marketplace to small, disadvantaged businesses. The program is for nine years that allows KTL to have access to sole-source government contracts of up to $4 million in services.  Being a certified 8(a) small business, KTL can receive set aside or sole-source contracts, as well as form joint ventures and teams to serve federal agencies under larger prime contracts.

 

MBE SWAM CERTIFIED COMPANY

 

KTL Communications is certified as a small minority-owned business by the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise - KTL holds a SWAM Certification. The Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

KTL is one of the very few translation businesses in Alexandria to have a SWAM Certification. "Certified" means the status issued to an applicant upon the department's determination that the applicant has satisfied the requirements for certification as a small, women-owned or minority-owned business.

 

Doing business with a Certified Woman and Minority Business Enterprise will benefit government agencies and corporations which have diversity programs in place. “Having a Diversity program implies that these institutions have established that certain purchasing goals – a percentage of their purchasing budget – has go to women/minority owned businesses.”* By allocating and effectively using the purchasing budget to buy products and services from an MBE certified business, these agencies and corporations receive several incentives provided by the federal and state government.

 

SWUC HUB CERTIFIED COMPANY

 

KTL Communications LLC, has been certified as a HUB firm with the Statewide Uniform Certification (SWUC) Program. The purpose of the HUB program is to promote economic opportunities for historically underutilized businesses in the state of North Carolina Government contracting and procurement that will foster their growth and profitability.
